New Postage Rates in 2017

On January 22, 2017, new United States Postal Service rates are set to go into effect, which could have implications on your 2017 print and mail budget.

What’s Changing?

The new rates impact a number of different type of mailings, but the most pertinent to you are:

  • 3-Digit and AADC categories for Commercial Letters have been combined. This new combined category will carry a cost of $0.403 per mailing, an increase over the $0.399 per mailing cost for 3-Digit and AADC categories last year.
  • Letters (6X9 envelopes included) weighing 3 oz. and more will be reduced to the 2 oz. rate, resulting in a per envelope savings of $0.246. This could be big savings for organizations sending high quantities of letters weighing more than 3 oz.

  • There will be a certificate of mailing increase from $0.36 to $0.39 and a meter mail charge decrease of $0.465 to $0.46, resulting in a net increase of $0.025.

  • Commercial Flat 3-Digit, ADC and Mixed ADC rates will not change. The 5-Digit rate will change. Rates are provided at this USPS page.
